New Features

  • Regenerative shield mechanic to protect the player and encourage a strategic style of gameplay and more professionally build player
  • Invincibility frames to prevent taking frequent damage to prevent the player from experiencing unfair and frustrating deaths
  • Knockback when taking damage to add juice to the damage system and make the attacks feel more impactful
  • Jumping enemy variant to add more challenge to the map and to encourage a more fast paced style of gameplay that relies on timing and stun mechanic
  • Improved, wider, and more spacious map with fewer tight spaces to improve the typical fluidity of movement, and reserving tight spaced precise movement for special instances and room challenges
  • Added juice to aliens movement, stun, and death animations that make them feel more alive and apart of the world and professionally made
  • Full restore from health kits to help prevent players from dying as frequently
  • Improved title screen that allows players to use controller or keyboard and mouse to play the game and add professionalism to the game
  • Improved particle system for the starry background for a more immersive and professional environment
  • Improved death screen and victory screen to help players understand what is going on in the game
  • Refined placement of guidance story dialogue to better reflect the map and controls
  • Removed pushing off of walls mechanic to make players make more use of the variable length tether feature which can be used when maneuvering around tight dangerous situations
  • Added god-mode (forward slash) to help players complete the game
  • Added a puzzle room to add an element of strategy to the playstyle and break away from the fast paced combat system for a change of pace
  • Added a challenge room with an extra large alien that has a unique attack pattern

Going Forward

  • Improve mini-boss animations and add juice to attacks
  • Refine end-game title and user interface appearance
  • Add juice to all parts of the game and improve how they feel as a whole
  • Overhaul the challenge room into a killable boss fight for a third piece of the escape pod
